00's Nike Alpha Project Fleece (M)
The Nike Alpha Project, launched on January 1st, 1999, featured a distinctive logo of five dots, symbolizing a revolutionary approach to athletic wear innovation. The project aimed to address and resolve performance issues in collaboration with elite athletes through a five-step process—Enquire, Research, Create, Test, and Compete. Spearheaded by Alpha Project global creative director Michael Morrow, the initiative focused on delivering the most exciting and innovative products across various categories. The minimalist five-dot logo, designed by Nike Olympics creative director Ken Black, complemented the iconic Swoosh logo and represented the five steps of product development. The official launch in 1999, highlighted by a commercial featuring Gary Payton and directed by Michael Bay, coincided with Nike's first foray into online sales, initially offering only the Alpha Project line. Despite initial challenges with brick-and-mortar stores, the project began gaining traction later that year.
The fleece features a swoosh on the collar, quarter zip, and elastane side panels.
